More than 100 police officers died in the line of duty in the U.S. last year. In the state of Virginia alone, five police officers have been lost in the line of duty this year and many others have been injured. With all of the recent scrutiny on inappropriate police actions, this is a good time to remember that the vast majority of our police officers are heroes who put themselves at risk each and every moment of their day to protect the communities they serve.
